Alistair Brownlee won the final of the 2010 WCS in Budapest, but Javier Gomez became the World Champion. It rained most of the day but during the male Elite event the rain stopped and slowed down, but the roads were still very wet and troublesome.

Number one Jan Frodeno got interviewed by German TV shortly before the start.
Alistair Brownlee looked very positive and content before the start.

Matt Chrabot pushed the pace on the bike and was alone in the lead for a long time.
Eventual third place finisher Steffen had to chase hard on the bike early on.
Ominous clouds were in the skies all day, but during the Elite race the rain mostly held off.
With Alistair Brownlee leading the chasers the lead of Chrabot came to an end.
Javier Gomez and Alistair Brownlee moved into the lead very early into the run.
This group was fighting hard for the final podium spot.
This is not the group Jan Frodeno usually is running with.
A dirty but elated Alistair Brownlee crossed the line in first, and the runner-up spot of Javier Gomez, gave the Spaniard the World Championship title.
A very happy and exhausted Steffen Justus collapsed after he crossed the finish line.
Brad Kahlefeldt crossed the line in 5th place but helped himself to the third place in the Dextro Energy World Championship series.
It wasn't that Javier Gomez wasn't smiling before, but after the race his smile was much bigger.
ITU honorary president Les McDonald was in Budapest to see the event and help out with the Elite presentations.
