Wahoo Acquires RGT (Road Grand Tours)

Wahoo has added a strategic element to its virtual cycling community with the acquisition of RGT, short for (and previously known as) Road Grand Tours. RGT has been a cult fixture in the online cycling community, and an early competitor to Zwift.

Wahoo’s acquisition means that RGT’s platform – which competes with Zwift and Rouvy – now has Wahoo’s formidable user base behind it, and Wahoo wasted no time letting its ecosystem users know via an email prompt sent at the moment the acquisition was announced.

This also means that SYSTM – Wahoo’s rebranding of The Sufferfest – has complementary online functionality. Wahoo SYSTM’s theme is structured training, while RGT is community-based, offering racing, graphics, and a stationary outlet reproducing an outdoor-analogous experience.

Wahoo also announced its launch of Wahoo X: a new premium subscription service that gives athletes full access to all of the features and content for both Wahoo SYSTM and Wahoo RGT under a single subscription, account, and login. Wahoo's bundled subscription is the same price as the previous stand-alone SYSTM subscription.

The new single-sign on Wahoo account will also work across other Wahoo products and touchpoints, including the ELEMNT Companion App, Wahoo Fitness App, and wahoofitness.com.
