2016 Datev Challenge Roth day 2

The expo at the 2016 Datev Challenge Roth opened today, and the sky also opened up too with some heavy rain, but the sun eventually took over. Another highlight on Thursday before the race is usually the Erdinger Urweisse Hütt'n Gaudi, where various famed race industry folks and Pros show up in Lederhosen and Dirndls.

Daniela Ryf is racing in Roth for the first time and many eyes are on this super fast Swiss Pro.

During the 2016 Datev Challenge Roth it was not immediately clear if the top females Pros were taken by the words of the defending champion Nils Frommhold, or his handsome looks.

Garmin introduced the 820 cycling computer yesterday and we were able to fondle this one in the Garmin booth.

Andy Iffland is the new German distributor of DeSoto.

This Zerod swim suit is a men's bottom, and comes in a variety of colors.

In addition to this German edition there was also a British one in the Zerod booth, but interestingly enough no American one.

Simone Reinhart (Worms, Germany) and Johanna Höcker (Rheda-Wiednbrück) were busy distributing their relay team stuff. Their male team mate however does not arrive until tomorrow.

In the afternoon a long line assemble to get an autograph (and delicious Frodissimo coffee) from the popular German triathlete Jan Frodeno.

The 2015 Ironman World Champion Frodo made many fans happy today - including this young one.

In the 2XU booth very dedicated fans can also get a hold of the race kit the German wears.

Athletes wait in line to grab local German food in the expo area.

In case you wondered - Dusche is the German word for shower.

French Pro Cyril Vienneu wants to have a great race on Sunday.

Danish Pro Michelle Vesterby shares a laugh with Hell on Wheels Thomas Hellriegel.

Per Bittner and Yvonne Van Vlerken also dressed up for the Erdinger Urweisse Hütt'n Gaudi.

They get started very early in Germany.

Carla Swift and Bob Swift traveled from Henderson, NV to Roth, Germany. Bob will race on Sunday and also race Challenge Regensburg a month later.

Near the expo the race organization set up pillars with information of the race since it started as Challenge in 2002.

In 2009 a couple of the relay teams really went crazy fast.
