Since the average visitor to Disneyworld is apparently not willing to shape up, rumor has it that one popular ride has to.

According to miceage.com the very popular and longstanding attraction "It's a small world after all" is going through a 10 month closure in 2008 to allow the creation of deeper flume with more water flow and the addition of more buoyant boats for today’s more weighty customers.

"Quite simply, the boats weren't designed to handle multiple adults weighing more than 200 pounds, and they now routinely bottom out in the shallow flume and get stuck," says Al Lutz of miceage.com.

When this unique flume ride system was created for the World's Fair in 1964 the average adult man weighed 175 pounds, and the average adult woman weighed 135 pounds. As we look at people around us today we are certainly aware that those numbers no longer are valid. This is also problematic for other rides apparently, but seemingly worst at "It's a small world after all."

"There are a few notorious bends and curves inside the ride where the heavier boats usually stop at, and most of the time the offending boat doesn't get much further than the S curve through the Scandinavian room before they come to a stop and create a traffic jam behind them," adds Lutz.

It seems that it is easier and less controversial to add seat belt extenders to plane seats and more buoyant boats to amusement parks versus truly addressing the obesity issue. What about adopting a healthier life style such as eating healthier and starting a workout routine?
