Jesse Dunn of Logan, Utah and Kirsten Sass of McKenzie, Tennessee won the overall titles at the standard distance (R 10k / B 40k / R 5k) USA Triathlon Duathlon National Championship. Matt Lieto of Bend, Oregon and Alycia Hill of Sal Lake City, Utah won the elite titles at slightly faster times than the overall age group winners.

Dunn combined a race-best 34:12 10k first leg, a 3rd-fastest overall 1:05:56 men’s 40k bike leg, and a by-far race-best 17:52 5k final leg to finish in 1:59:15 and win the men’s 25-29 age group. He had a 1:23 margin of victory over two-time champion, second overall and men’s 40-44 winner Matt Payne of Golden Valley, Minnesota who sustained a 2-minute penalty. Evan Pardi of Yachats, Oregon was 3rd overall and won the men's 20-24 age group with a time of 2:02:46.

Lee Piercy of Great Britain, who was thus not eligible for the U.S. championship, led the men's 40-44 category and had the second-fastest overall time in 2:00:39.

Sass combined a women’s 3rd-best 39:56 10k first leg, a women’s 2nd-fastest 1:13:05 40k bike leg, and a women’s 2nd-best 20:41 5k run to finish in 2:14:52, win women’s 35-39 and take the women’s overall title. She had a 3:10 margin of victory over women’s 20-24 winner Brianna Troksa of Veradale, Washington and 5:16 over women’s 3rd-overall and women’s 25-29 winner Stephanie Pancoast of San Francisco, California.

Lieto combined a 3rd-fastest elite men’s 35:44 10k run, a by-far fastest 1:01:29 bike split, and a 3rd-fastest 20:18 5k run to finish in 1:58:47 with a 28-seconds margin over age group overall male Jesse Dunn, and 1:05 over 2nd-place elite male Matthew Sheeks of Woodinville, Washington.

Alycia Hill put together an elite women's 2nd-fastest 38:39 10k run, an elite women’s fastest 1:12:57 bike leg, and an elite women’s 2nd-best 19:47 5k run to finish in 2:13:48 with a 1:04 advantage over overall age group women’s winner Sass, and 6:02 over elite women’s runner-up Sarah Graves of Ballantine, Montana.
