FORM Swim Revamps Membership Model

FORM Swim announced today that, among other changes, it would be changing its membership model with immediate effect to no longer require a subscription to maintain real-time metrics.

In a statement posted in our Reader Forum, FORM Swim co-founder and CEO Dan Eisenhardt noted the importance of allowing "greater confidence and flexibility with your membership choices."

"From day one, our mission has been to make swimming more fun and to help you improve in the water," stated Eisenhardt. "To see this happen is incredible. Our FORM community has swum over 116,000 workouts and followed 2,600 training plans in less than a year. Your direct feedback led us to introduce Custom Workout Builder this past August and you’ve already built 6,000 unique workouts. Listening to you, the FORM swimming community is at the heart of all our decisions."

A purchasing experience now looks like this: instead of subscribing to membership and receiving a pair of goggles to use with that membership, you are now purchasing the goggles and receiving a free one-year membership. The cost for that first year remains the same -- $228 (although Slowtwitchers may still use the code Slowtwitch for 20% off that first-year). Following that one-year period, your subscription renews at a rate of $15 per month -- a 25% reduction of the old subscription price. If you cancel your subscription, you still hold onto real-time metrics -- a function that had been disabled when cancelling your subscription after FORM's Training Plans feature was announced in May.

Member exclusive perks continue to include access to over 1,000 custom workouts, guided through the goggle, as well as more than 30 specific custom training plans -- including those that comprised the Slowtwitch Guppy Challenge this year. In addition to the new pricing break after year one, FORM also announced additional benefits to members. FORM announced that users with an active subscription who need a replacement set of goggles will be able to purchase a replacement pair (one every 12 months) for 50% off retail. Members who take advantage of this discount will be required to maintain a membership for three months following that purchase.

Another change for all users: an extension of the warranty period to 24 months, up a full calendar year over the prior warranty.

These changes all appear to give swimmers more flexibility to utilize FORM Swim in whatever way makes the best sense for them -- a demand that had been emphasized clearly in our Reader Forum earlier this year. FORM seems to have taken note and are making key changes ahead of the holiday season.
