Jacobs, Hoschke take Husky II

Pete Jacobs held off a hard charging Mitchell Robbins to win the TriHusky II Long Course event. Rebecca Hoschke ran down Laura Siddall to take the women's title.

"After not being able to get going last week in Geelong I was very happy to have felt good on the bike at Huskisson. I tried several times to break the pack apart, assuming Luke Mckenzie and I would get away together, but when I finally got a break with 15k to go, I was on my own. I pushed as hard as I could for the last 15k and with the adrenaline flowing I opened up a 1 minute lead over the chase pack of 6 guys. I stayed calm on the run and took the first 5km easy and gave up 40seconds of my lead, but then I picked up the pace and was able to stay in control for the rest of the race," said Jacobs to slowtwitch. "It is one of my favorite courses in the world, I always race well there, so maybe I'm a bit biased."

"I put together a strong race considering I am right in the middle of heavy training for Ironman Melbourne. It's hard to expect to have good race legs at this point in time with the hard work I've been putting in over the past two months," added Luke McKenzie. "I got what I needed out of the race and with five weeks to go I'm happy with the form and training is on track."

"I've had two great races this month with Geelong Long Course followed by this win at Huskisson Long Course Triathlon 7 days later. I raced smart and was really pleased to pull together a strong run home for the win," said Hoschke to slowtwitch. "I love the course down at Husky, we had great weather and the support of spectators and volunteers was awesome. Elite Energy ran another successful weekend of triathlon events of various distances and its great to see more people becoming involved in the sport and part of the triathlon community."
