Louisville 2013 - Junior / U23

Dutch athletes Mathieu Van Der Poel and Mike Teunissen stormed to wins in the Junior and U23 category at the UCI Cyclocross World in Louisville, KY and here are images plus results from these events.

Although the weather wasn't ultra inviting the fans came out in huge numbers and they were all very passionate, and the weather conditions made for some great racing.

The Dutch Juniors immediately let it know what they had in mind. Mathieu Van Der Poel and Martijn Budding jumped into the lead and never looked back.

Nicolas Cleppe and Ben Boets from Belgium chased hard.

American hopeful Logan Owen didn't have a great start and had quite a bit of work to do.

Van Der Poel looked to be completely in control.

The chasing group led by Owen moved closer and closer to the Belgians running in third and fourth.

Martijn Budding's runner-up spot was not really in danger either.

Late in the race Owen moved into third place.

Czech rider Adam Toupaik though ened up in the bronze medal position.

The new Junior Wold Champion Mathieu Van Der Poel is not far from the finish here.

There were some great fans out and about in Louisville like these two guys from Belgium.

The starting front rows in the U23 World Championships were filled with Dutch and Belgian riders.

Mike Teunissen was riding very smart and in control.

The snow slowly disappeared and the fans were growing and growing in numbers.

It was quite slippery out there.
