Pearl Izumi Aero Project

Pearl Izumi brought triathletes Cameron Dye, Tim DeBoom, Jesse Thomas, Angela Naeth, Flora Duffy and Caitlin Snow to the Low Speed Wind Tunnel in San Diego for a camp they labeled Aero Project. Aerodynamics, and product development was clearly high on the agenda, but Pearl Izumi also put an emphasis on camaraderie.

The camp itself was broken down into three days, with the first day dedicated to testing various fabrics on a custom stationary form. That effort was handled by Pearl's advanced development director Ted Barber.

On the second day it was time for the athletes to spend time in the tunnel with Mat Steinmetz from Retul, Ted Barber and Tim DeBoom. Surprisingly, none of these athletes had been to a wind tunnel before, but with the help of good bike fitting some of them had already a pretty decent position. Sponsor Shimano was also on hand to swap out parts as needed.

The final day was dedicated to a group ride and product meetings.

Caitlin Snow has got her running down for sure, and is working hard on her bike prowess and fit.
