Strong field for Rev3 Quassy

The Rev3 Quassy event features a big $100,000 purse that pays 10 places deep and has thus attracted a very strong field. Among those fighting for the win are Richie Cunningham, Andrew Starykowicz, Bevan Docherty, Mirinda Carfrae, Heather Jackson and Annabal Luxford. We of course could have listed a whole bunch more athletes above, but there is only so much space.

Richie Cunningham is the defending Rev3 Quassy champion and he has recently won 70.3 St. Croix and 70.3 Texas. Andrew Starykowicz grabbed the title at 70.3 San Juan this year and won Ironman Florida with a monster bike split late last year. Bevan Docherty smashed the course record at Ironman New Zealand earlier this year and has shown that he has well adapted to the non drafting format.

As we had mentioned earlier, that though does not mean that only the those mentioned before are considered favorites.

Kevin Collington looks to be in great form and as the current US Pro 70.3 Champion will have many eyes on him and he surely won't be able to fly under the radar at Rev3 Quassy.

Joe Gambles mentioned to us earlier this year that he will focus this season on Half distance events and the Quassy race should be right up his alley.

Christian Kemp is the Asia Pacific 70.3 Champion after his win in Auckland, NZ, and he also took the title at the win at the Urban Hotels Geelong Long Course Triathlon. He likes racing in North America and if his form still hold well he will be dangerous.

Brandon Marsh is steadily moving up through the ranks and he was 4th at 70.3 New Orleans and 5th at 70.3 Oceanside.

Tim Don, Andrew Yoder, Artem Parienko and Maik Twelsiek should also not be discounted, but we are not sure what form they are currently in.

Mirinda Carfrae is the defending women's champion at Rev3 Quassy and Heather Jackson and Annabel Luxford really need no further introduction, but Jackson has truly been on fire with wins at 70.3 Oceanside, Escape from Alcatraz and the Wildflower Long Course race among others, and Luxford is the 2013 Asia Pacific 70.3 Champion.

Heather Wurtele seems to have found new confidence and an extra gear this year and grabbed the win at 70.3 Panama, finished second at 70.3 Oceanside and third at 70.3 St. George.

Kelly Williamson is also very fond of Rev3 events and tends to do well at them. She just finished second at the CapTex Triathlon in Austin, TX and thus showed that her speed is good.

Sam Warriner races smart and should never be discounted, and that is true for Meredith Kessler too. Watch out also for Carrie Lester.
