The Serios of Matt Russell

Matt Russell recently brought his Diamondback Serios to the A2 Wind Tunnel in Mooresville, NC and I took a closer look at this race ready machine. He last raced his Andean in Kona but that bike apparently had to stay in Hawaii until the accident investigation is completed. Russell got a new Andean shipped to his house just after he left for the wind tunnel, and he will likely soon move back to that that bike, but this is what he has been racing the last few months.

The Serios of Matt Russell pretty much came straight from the Sunbelt Bakery IRONMAN 70.3 Chattanooga to the wind tunnel. The bib number 1 was still on his bike and also on his aero helmet.

A look down from the top at the Hed cockpit on the Diamonback Serios.

The bike computer was not in place, but it is pretty easy to imagine where it usually sits.

There is a lot going on at the front end of Matt Russell's bike.

The shifting is handled via Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 buttons both on the extensions and the brake levers.

I did not open the bento box to see what is in it, but my guess would have been Haribo gummy bears. Russell however shared that a repair kit and spare contacts have their home in said bento box.

Matt Russell races on an ISM Prologue saddle.

The water cage bottle (with a bottle) under the seat was moved up higher during testing in the wind tunnel, but it turned out that it was faster lower for him. That is typically not the case.

TriRig Omega brakes also handle the stopping of the rear Knight Composites 95 Clincher wheel. The tire in the back is also a 23mm Continental Grand Prix TT model.

Matt Russell rides 165mm Shimano Dura-Ace cranks with a 56 tooth outer ring ...

... and he uses a Stages Power Meter on that setup.

A CeramicSpeed OSPS is attached to the Shimano Dura-Ace rear derailleur.

The Speedplay Zero Aero pedals are always a nice touch.
