What We Have Noticed: ICEdot, Kiwis ...

This issue of What We Have Noticed features the ICEdot crash sensor, the {re}vici Tres Flores T, the Kiwi performance center in Boulder, the A Second Chance documentary and the clever Full Frontal Area app.

ICEdot

What: We have heard all kinds of horror stories about bike crashes with terrible aftermaths and the last thing you want is to be left out there with no one knowing who you are or your loved ones being unaware where you are. The ICEdot crash sensor mounts to virtually any helmet and triggers your phone via Low Energy Bluetooth to send an alarm to loved ones if it detects a critical impact. Basically pre selected contacts get a text message and a GPS location if available. What is your life worth?
Compatibility: iPhone 4S and 5
Availability: now
MSRP: $149 (shipped with t-shirt)

{re}vici Tres Flores Tee

What: The {re}vici Tres Flores t-shirt is quite cute and is a not so in your face triathlon design. Made from a tri blend of materials this Tres Flores short is quite soft and comfortable. It also is available in a tank version from this Charlotte, NC based brand and of course there are offerings for men too.

Kiwis in Boulder
What: In case you ever wanted to know what it is like to live as a foreign Pro triathlete in Boulder you need to look no further. Callum Millward, Jamie White, James Bowstead, Mark Bowstead and Tom Davison allow an intimate look into their Kiwi high performance center in this very fine video.

A Second Chance

What: A Second Chance is a documentary directed by Rob Kelly that follows the Janelle Morrison story and her path to recovery. If you are headed to 70.3 Calgary or reside in that beautiful area you could check an early screening of this film. There are also plans apparently to show screenings during 70.3 Boulder and Challenge Penticton, but no details are available yet for those screenings. We do however recommend to bring tissues.
Viewing: July 26th in Calgary, AB at the Globe Theatre
MSRP: n/a

Full Frontal Area

What: Forum member Jack Mott is an aero weenie and we kind of knew that, but now we have actual proof. The Austin, TX resident developed an app that allows users to measure and compare the frontal area of various bike positions and bike gear. Mott told us that the app was inspired by a thread in the forum about estimating that frontal area from a photo. The app will subtract the background and count the pixels of the remaining object, and it even has a delay so you can get from your recording device back on the bike for the measurement.
Compatibility: Android 3.0 and higher
MSRP: $3.99
