2013 Ironman Hawaii - day 3

Wednesday in Kona is the day of the Slowtwitch gathering, and that event was again super successful thanks to many partners, sponsors and volunteers, but of course we experienced and saw many other things.

We have a few images here from the gathering, but there will be a separate slowtwitch gathering gallery.

Today you can also enjoy a variety of things we noticed in and around the expo, including but not limited to yaw data collecting by the Mavic crew, doping controls for Pros and age groupers, Boa lacing updates, new Newton shoes and much more. Plus we spent time at the pier in the morning.

Ronnie Schildknecht headed out on the course early this morning with a few other athletes.

It was very busy at the morning swim today.

Ready to get in to the water.

Roch Frey swam with the the Chocolate Milk Refuel crew this morning.

Trevor Wurtele was very stylish as he headed into the water.

Challenged athletes make us to realize that we should not have excuses.

Pete Jacobs was busy signing autographs.

The Newton Distance Elite Ironman edition shoes.

Some of the folks who tested the NormaTec boots had a stunning view.

The 2013 Underpants Run is on tomorrow.

The Mavic crew ran the whole bike course at race speed with Lars Finanger as the rider - with a wind vane attached to collect data.

The Boa crew was converting shoes of runners to the Boa lacing system on site.

Here are some of the colorful parts you can choose to either match your colorful shoes or spice up your plain ones.

The running on Alii is going on seemingly all day and night. The etiquette though should be to run on the right of your direction so the runner who is with traffic (in this case me) should be able to pass oncoming runners away from traffic.

Apparently most Pros were doping tested today and quite a few age groupers too.

The slowtwitch gathering powered by Muscle Milk and blueseventy was very busy.

Chrissie Wellington made a young fan very happy.

It was very relaxing and thanks to great sponsors good prizes were won in the raffle.

We came across the Greenfield twins Terran and River earlier and we appreciated their hat choices.
