Bozzone overcame a 10 seconds deficit on the swim leg, built a 3:14 lead with a by-far-best 1:57:33 bike split, and then held off strong runs to finish in 3:42:10 with a 2:25 margin of victory over Rodolphe Von Berg of the U.S., 3:19 over 3rd-place finisher Franz Loeschke of Germany, and 4:22 over 4th-place Michael Raelert of Germany.
Salthouse led the women’s swim with a 29:58 split, maintained a 2 seconds gap on Cave with a 3rd-best 2:17:35 bike split, and sealed the deal with a women’s-best 1:22:25 run to finish in 4:12:44 with a 4:43 margin of victory over Jennifer Spieldenner of the U.S. and 5:31 over 3rd-place Cave.
Men
Two-time Ironman 70.3 World Champion Michael Raelert of Germany led the swim in 27:02 which gave him a 1 second lead on Manuel Küng of Switzerland, 5 seconds on Von Berg, 9 seconds on 2004 Olympic bronze medalist Sven Riederer of Switzerland, 10 seconds on Bozzone, 17 seconds on Loeschke, and 27 seconds on Ben Collins of the U.S.
Halfway through the tabletop-flat 56-mile bike leg, Bozzone carved out a 1:43 lead on Collins, 2:06 on Justin Rossi, 2:08 on Fernando Toldi, 2:35 on Von Berg, 2:51 on Küng, 2:55 on Riederer, and 2:57 on Loeschke and Raelert.
After his stellar 1:57:33 bike split, Bozzone had a 3:14 lead on Collins (2nd-best 2:00:31 bike split), 5:12 on Toldi (2:02:13 bike split), 5:13 on Von Berg, 5:16 on Riederer, 5:17 on Raelert, and 5:20 on Loeschke.
After 3.3 miles of the run, Bozzone increased his lead to 4:28 on Loeschke, 4:34 on Collins, 5:00 on Raelert, and 5:08 on Von Berg. After a 7th-best 1:15:00 half marathon, Bozzone gave back 2:28 to Von Berg’s 1:12:32 run and 2:02 to Loeschke’s 1:12:58 split but still had enough in the bank to cruise to a 2:35 margin of victory.

Salthouse led the women’s swim wave with a 29:58 split that gave her a 2 seconds lead on Spieldenner, 10 seconds on Camille Donat, and 14 seconds on Leanda Cave. Overall contenders Carla Moreno (+2:37), Laura Capone (+2:45), Katrien Verstuyft (+2:52), Melanie McQuaid (+2:57), Ewa Komander (+3:04), Ashley Clifford (+4:19), and Corinne Abraham (+4:59) had some hard work to do.
Halfway through the 56-mile bike leg, Salthouse led Cave by 2 seconds and Spieldenner by 2:15, with Verstuyft (+2:49), McQuaid (+3:45), Astrid Stienen (+3:49), Komander (+4:29), and Abraham (+7:33) further astern. After her 2nd-best 2:17:35 bike split, Salthouse held an 11 seconds lead on Cave (women’s-best 2:17:21 bike split), 2:14 on Stienen, 2:53 on Spieldenner, 4:10 on McQuaid, 4:30 on Verstuyft, and 5:30 on Komander.
After a women’s-best 1:22:25 run which was 1:50 faster than Spieldenner’s next-best effort, Salthouse had a 4:43 margin of victory over Spieldenner and 5:31 on 3rd-place Cave.
