The sweet light ride of a passionate Cervelo fan

Phoenix, AZ resident and Chris McDonald Big Sexy Racing athlete Ben Miller has owned several Cervelo bikes and among them a P2, P3, P4, P5six and most recently a P5X, and he now added a super light P5 Disc to his quiver. Not content with the standard frame paint scheme, and the Sunweb team color apparently not available for mere mortals, Miller had the frame set custom painted Nissan GT-R R34 Midnight Purple iii (from a 1999 Nissan GT-R R34 which shifts color depending on the light) and went to town to trick it out. That 58cm super bike weighs a scant 18.04 pounds and Miller is apparently not yet done in terms of tricking it out. But he is thrilled with the bike as is.

This Nissan GT-R R34 Midnight Purple color looks different from every angle and Miller had to source the paint through a paint shop in the UK.

As the bike sits with the race wheels and disc brakes, this Cervelo P5 disc only weighs 18.04 pounds. Wheels on this bike are ENVE SES Disc plus a 78mm ENVE SES Carbon Clincher with an Industry 9 hub and ceramic bearings. Miller is 45 years old, 6'3" tall and weighs 230 pounds, and prefers the 70.3 distance. But with this new UCI legal ride he might also attempt some road TTs.

Most bikes are shot from the drive side, but on disc brake bikes there is also much to see on the other side. Disc brakes here are Shimano Dura-Ace Hydraulic.

Is this bike blue, purple or orange?

The Cervelo mono riser cockpit was first introduced on the Cervelo P5X and is now part of the the P5 disc. An XLab Torpedo cage is mounted on top.

Miller opted for black metallic Cervelo lettering to match cockpit and it does look good.

The same disc brake setup also in the rear. A Carbon-Ti X-Rotor 160mm rotor with an Ashima 6 bolt to center lock adapter, Shimano Dura-Ace brake calipers and a Carbon-Ti X-Lock tru axle.

The 172.5 mm Rotor 2inpower 1x crank set with a 50 tooth direct mount chainring is connected to a SRAM Red Etap AXS 12sp rear derailleur and a SRAM Red Etap AXS 10-33 12 speed cassette and modified Speedplay Zero Aero pedals.

The Dash Cycles Aeropost combo with integrated cage mount looks great here and Miller uses an XLab Gorilla XT cage here.

Another look at the bike from behind and you can easily see the massive cassette of this 1x setup.
