What is SwimRun?

Run, swim, scramble, repeat. SwimRun is a growing sport that entails teams of two participants making their way together around a point-to-point race course with alternating segments of running and open water swimming. Teams may be female, male, or co-ed. The short course also has a Solo option.

Participants must bring all their gear with them to minimize transitions. Participants run in their wetsuits and swim with their shoes. Partners are tethered during the swims, and safety is the number one priority. Fun is close second!

More: 1.The course traverses public and private land in and around Jackman, Moose River, and Dennistown, Maine. Participants are required to follow the prescribed route and any deviation will be grounds for disqualification.

4. Refer to the website for the complete list of required equipment and rules.

2.Team participants must complete the course in teams of two, racing at the same time. Teammates must be within 10 yards of one another on the swims and 100 yards of each other on the runs. Use of a tether required.

3.Any participant who encounters any other participant in need of aid must stop and provide aid. This is the spirit of swimrun. Failure to do so will be grounds for disqualification

Map location is based off of a geocode of the addressed entered using Google's Google Maps API. If your address does not geocode properly, you can either update the address (we will attempt to re-geocode after any updates to your entry) or you can use Google's geocoding tool found here: http://gmaps-samples.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/geocoder/singlegeocode.html to obtain a lat/long for your location and enter that. To use the utility, type in an address that is close to your location and then drag-and-drop the marker to obtain the desired lat/long. If you choose to enter a lat/long, you must check the box on the edit page that says, "override geocode with entered lat/long."
