The Sprint swim course is 1/4 mile in Donner Lake with two left turns. Corners are marked by large buoys and kayakers/boats are along the course to ensure your safety. The average water temperature of Donner Lake in July is 64-69 degrees. Wetsuits are optional. The swim course maps are posted on our Course Maps page.
Bike Course:
The bike course takes place on Donner Pass Road between South Shore Drive and Donner Memorial State Park. The entire course is paved. The bike course is open to vehicle traffic.
The Sprint bike course is approximately 6 miles and is an out and back. Heads east on Donner Pass Road to a turnaround and back to the main venue.

Run:
The Sprint run course features a 2 Mile out-and-back run on South Shore Drive. Triathletes leave the transition area on the South side of the parking lot. You will pass two aid stations while on the run: one as you leave the transition area and the other at the turn-a-round point.
Mount/Dismount Area: At the Donner Lake Triathlon, you are not permitted to ride your bike in the transition area. There is a mount and dismount area outside of the bike start/bike finish tents.
More: 2022 brings the 40th Donner Lake Triathlon (DLT) to Truckee California. For years the Donner Lake Triathlon has been and remains the favorite triathlon of many. It?s no wonder as the event features an epic setting, a beautiful and challenging course, and is located very near Truckee and North Lake Tahoe. 2022 also marks the 11th Donner Lake Kids Triathlon and the 9th Donner Lake Half Triathlon. We welcome you to Truckee and North Lake Tahoe. Make sure to plan to stay prior to or after so that you can experience one of the World?s best sporting playgrounds.
Directions: Venue is on Donner Lake, west of Truckee, CA.
